V-Day is a global activist movement to end violence against women and girls.
The challenge of this project was to represent these very sensitive themes while also maintaining
a sense of empowerment and strength through my design.
In my research, I learned a lot about the “Riot Grrrl” aesthetic of the early 90s that combined
feminist consciousness, punk style and politics.
To incorporate this idea into my website design, I went with black and white photos to give the feeling of a Do It Yourself, self-published magazine that was popular at that time.
This paired with a strong, bold type design inspired by Barbara Kruger gives the website an energetic and commanding presence that empowers the user to get involved with V-Day.
